History

To Save the World
During the invasion of the Technax Armada Surge travelled down to the Earth's core, where magma currents were running wild due to the gravitational influence of the Armada Mothership. After settling everything down he returned to his home in the Nevada desert. On the way he spotted something falling through the sky; he travelled up to catch it, discovering it was a hero named Shard. He brought the hero back to his home for coffee, where they discussed what had happened up on the mothership.
One month later, Surge was in New York City, on the lookout for crime. He went to foil a bank robbery. Afterwards he decided that it was time for him to meet the League of Salvation. He infiltrated their HQ in energy form and began watching TV. After a while he began exploring the base, and encountered Magneta and Saosin. They were just about to head out on a mission, so he decided to join them.

Abilities and Skills
Timothy's body consists of pure energy, though he is capable of transforming it into matter and back. He can also manipulate energy, allowing him to transform himself into pure light for quick flight.
To control energy Timothy must expend energy. Usually he siphons energy from his surroundings to fuel the usage of his powers. If he runs out, however, he has trained his body to automatically reconvert to matter before he passes out. If Timothy exceeds the limit of his energy capacity, he begins to overload and energy arcs begin emanating from his body. If he does not discharge the energy quick enough it will force itself out in the manner of an explosion, leaving him unconscious and drained.
